Workshop: Science-Policy Interfaces and Global Challenges
As social and technological developments continue to converge, the role of researchers in informing timely, policy-relevant solutions to emerging global challenges is gaining increased importance. Yet, engaging at the interface between science and policymaking is a complex endeavour that entails specific competencies, knowledge and tools.
This workshop will provide an overview of actors and mechanisms that bridge science and multilateral policy, with a focus on the international Geneva ecosystem. It will also spark reflections among the participants on potential involvement with science-policy interfaces.
Organised in partnership with the EPFL PhD Excellence Programme, the workshop is dedicated to PhD candidates within that programme. It is also part of the GSPI’s ‘Learning at the boundary’ training activities.
The programme
The full-day workshop will explore three main thematics:
- Multilateral policy and the role of science
- Navigating science-policy interfaces
- Science-policy engagement in the participants’ context
Participants will be able to exchange directly with experts working at the Interface of science and global policy within the International Geneva Ecosystem.
The workshop will take place on March 11th, 2025 (full day) at the EPFL Biotech Campus in Geneva.
Registration until 29 November 2024
Interested participants need to submit a brief cover letter (maximum one page) by November 29th, 2024 to Julie Malvane Bérénice Mazard julie.mazard@epfl.ch.
In your letter, kindly outline your scientific field, current research project, and your interest in science policy.
